Next Steps by Leah Hadley, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), Master Analyst in Financial Forensics (MAFF), Mediator

Prior to my own divorce, I remember daydreaming about being single, particularly after a fight with my ex. I was unhappy in my marriage and had been for quite some time before we seriously discussed divorce.

My dream wasn’t to meet other men. My dream was about freedom and independence from a marriage that felt stifling. After I told my ex that I wanted a divorce, it was difficult for me even to remember the dreams I harbored of being independent. I was struggling with fear about my future. I was overwhelmed. I had three children. What was I thinking, imagining I could survive and thrive on my own?

Thankfully, I was surrounded by a supportive community. My mom continually reassured me and always made me feel that I would never be alone. She would be there to help me every step of the way; she was, and she still is.

Knowing I was not alone provided me the confidence I needed to start thinking about my life; what did I really want? This notion of starting anew was very much like the emotions I had when I graduated high school and college. Certainly, there was the fear of the unknown, mixed with the excitement of the possibilities that lay ahead.

Following ten years of being a half of a couple, I was ready to chart my course. When I reflect back, I realize it was the positive vision I’d set for my future that helped propel me through the rough days – I don’t want to sugar coat it, there were definitely rough days.

Following my divorce, I started my own business called Great Lakes Divorce Financial Solutions; a firm committed to improving the divorce process. As my business and skills evolve, I am thrilled to share with you how I was able to make my dreams come true.

I am now offering new and different opportunities to build on my knowledge, skills, and abilities in the financial and mediation arenas. The integration of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) has expanded the full services into a program I call Next Steps. S.T.E.P.S. is an acronym for Sharing, Transformation, Encouragement, Planning, and Support.

Next Steps is about knowing that you are not alone. It is about holding space together and creating a community for healing. It’s more than that, though. It’s about creating a vision for the life that you want, eliminating any limiting beliefs that are holding you back, and creating a plan to allow you to reach your goals.

If you are going through or have recently gone through a divorce, I hope that you will join us for this journey of healing and transformation. Through my work, I aim to provide a comprehensive approach to healing and rebuilding following a divorce. While many know me as a financial specialist and a mediator, more recently I became an AAMET-Certified Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Practitioner. I recognize the power in combining my skills and experience, and as a result, Next Steps was born. Join me-better yet-join us for your Next Steps.
